LIM-JOHAN – AN ART PROJECT 2015
Lim-Johan lived between 1865 and 1944. Only 28 of his paintings are preserved. He photographed a lot and carved wood. Excursions can be made following the trails that Lim-Johan has left in our municipality. Last year, children in Edsbyn followed the trails in a project called Black Stars – a treasure hunt in the kingdom of Lim-Johan.
In autumn 2014, Edsbyn’s museum organized a memorial exhibition with Lim-Johans photographs. We were looking for an art project in collaboration with Konstrundan’s Marga Boustedt.
Marga was our guide and image teacher for two days! On Friday, 28/11, Gunilla Persson opened the museum only for us. The following Monday we continued with the image work at the school under Marga’s leadership.
Grade 1-2-3 made paintings in pastel chalk, in layers, just as Johan used to paint.
Grade 4-5-6 ”helped” him to get to the perspective by painting backgrounds and placing the motives in front. (The shoe shop in Edsbyn had gathered 20 shoe shells that we used!) The closest was the biggest in our cartons. Lim-Johan painted big what he thought was most important in his paintings.
